LACC Pairs League 17/18 Round 1 report

At the beginning of the day it looked like it was going to be a wash out with heavy rain however these subsided leaving us with a great sun packed afternoon.

Fishing for the majority was fairly hard leading to a very trampled tow path in search of finding a few fish. The ever consistent Canal Masters managed to buck the trend finding 4.95 meters of fish between them including a 36cm Perch. Second place fell to team No Name with 3.33 meters and not far behind in third place team Vampires with 3 meters.

Also worth a mention was a special capture by John Cheyne. He managed to land a magnificent Roach of just over 1lb. Not something you catch everyday let alone on a lure.

A total of 27 Perch were caught with 7 being over 30cm.
A total of 50 Zander were caught with 8 being over 40cm.

2016/17 League Table after final round

2016/17 was a fantastic year for the club, with membership topping out at well over 200 members and some memorable fish being caught. Our Pairs League was as popular as ever and a big congratulations go to Vidar Thomassen and Alan Brown who dominated the league from the start and were very worthy winners.

LACC Pairs League 16/17 Round 5 report

Well it was wet and mild for the 5th round of the LACC Pairs Championship on Sunday and 9 teams braved the elements to fight it out for top spot on the day. League Leaders "The Team With No Name" (Vidar and Alan) never really hit their stride but still finished 3rd with 147cm to consolidate their position at the top. Carl Arcus and Jamie Potts ( Team SHUK) seem to be getting better and better at the moment and took a well deserved 2nd place with 165cm. However it was last years champions The Worcester Wanglers (John and Steve) who re-found some of their form to record the win by banking a number of fat 30cm + perch in their 216cm.

LACC Pairs League 16/17 Round 3 report

As ever our Warwick stretch provided some fantastic fishing for the teams that got the tactics and location right on the day and I'm happy to say that no team blanked. Team No Name (Vidar and Alan) showed the consistency that has seen them figure highly in every match this season, by catching a total of 9 zander, 7 perch and 2 pike for an overall total length of 595cm with bonuses. They also picked up 5 bonus points for the best pike which measured 56cm. In second were The popular duo of Rob Busby and Joel Kempson who fish as "Fishy McFishface" ! they managed 7 zander and 8 perch for a total of 485cm and picked up 10 bonus points for both best zander (52cm) and best perch (34cm). But perhaps the story of the day was the performanc eof young Alex Palmer who along with his dad Gary caught a fantstic total of 435cm and also picked up 5 bonus points for joint biggest perch (34cm).

LACC Pairs League 16/17 Round 2 report

We had 12 teams competing for the 2nd round of the pairs league and everyone was at the meeting point at the Grand Union nice and early for a planned 8.00am start. The water was a nice colour with pretty good visibility and the weather looked set to be hot and sunny. Having been energised by some free chocolate thanks to Rob Busby, everyone set of in pairs to try to make the most of the conditions before the sun made it too tough and the bank holiday boat traffic started in earnest. Every team caught fish, and not surprisingly considering the conditions most of the fish were caught in the first three hours. In total there were 41 perch caught over half of which were over 20cm and eight were over 30cm ! in fact there was only one fish that could be considered a "wasp" caught all day. There were 37 zander caught in total the biggest being 46cm. In total four teams managed to catch over 3m of fish (including bonuses). Felix and Anthony (Catching Z's), Vidar and Alan (Team with No Name), Canalmasters (Mike and Richard) and John & Steve (Worcester Wanglers). All four teams were very close, but Steve Wilson of the Worcester Wanglers managed to land a bonus pike of 65cm which tipped them over the 4m mark and handed them the victory. Our only Polish competitors "Team Widly" who caught the biggest Zander in round one, struggled a little and came last on this occasion, but unfortunatley they could stay for the pub prize-giving and so Yatesy had to wear the Bunny ears on behalf of Him and Bill for coming second last ! Sorry mate !

2016/17 Round 1 report

Well we had a fantastic turn out with 14 teams competing and decent weather for the 1st Pairs match of the season on Saturday. The fishing was fairly tough, but every team caught fish with 4 species being recorded Perch, Zander, Pike and Ruffe. Full report will appear on the LACC site later this week, but the day was won by "Team No Name 1" Vidar and Alan with a great haul of 4.44m of perch. "The Canalmasters", (Mike and Richard) just pipped last years league winners "Worcester Wanglers" for 2nd place.

2015/16 Season Report
Well the final round of the Pairs League was held at our Stratford canal stretch and conditions were tough. It was great fun though and included a couple of cracking fish. Andy Mason had a 100cm pike fishing for Team Rapture and Derek Holmes had a 61cm Zander for the aptly named team Zander Hookers. It was the Zander Hookers who took forst place, followed by the Worcester Wanglers, Team Rapture and Team No Name 1.
